I went out to Transfabulous tonight - just me. Kris got stuck in the Gold Coast because he was visiting his mother and it rained all day so he didn't want to ride the motorbike home in the freezing cold rain, and besides he has an inexplicably sore thumb. He doesn't know how it happened, but he can't move it.

So I went to Transfabulous by myself and had a nice time, and kept an eye out for a couple of peeps on my f-list that I was hoping to meet but I didn't see them (looks all disappointed at those members of my f-list. Yeah, you know who you are). But I left after awhile because I'm really not much of a party animal anymore.

It was kinda adventurous of me to go by myself tho.

But now I'm home and cosy in my snuggly bathrobe, all nice and clean from a hot shower. Gonna lie in bed and watch Mad About You dvds. Kewl.

Plus, Tiggers gets to sleep with me (she only gets to when Kris isn't home because she bugs him by purring too loudly and drinking out of the water glasses)

Oh! The funniest thing: I was all soaped up in the shower and all of a sudden I could smell perming solution (really strong) on my hands, and there is no explanation for it. In fact, I just got a little whiff of it again. Really weird and I can't explain it - there isn't anything remotely like that in the house.

Hm, odd.

Anyway, time to snuggle in to bed.

I have my board book and gesso so I am going to get a move on with that idea of Suzi's next!

I spent lots of money on papers, and I'm glad I did!  heee.   So I did a journal page trying to incorporate layers.  The only trouble is I seem to have managed to cover up the gorgeous background papers.  I need practice.   Lately I've been enjoying drawing cute faeries in cheeky stockings and little dresses.

how much is wasted in worrying about entirely stupid things.
3 or 4 hours this afternoon browsing craigslist looking
at apartments. it is very frustrating.

  Suzi you really inspire me.  I love to create art but I am no artist!  You inspired me to start an art journal!  Creating really relaxes me!!  It is wonderful when I can use color to express my feelings!  These 2 pages I made a while ago.  One of them was created on a very bad day.  The other was created when I was rejoicing my wonderful friends I found on line through my yahoo ATC group.  I am working on 2 pages right now and when they are done I would like to post them here too.

Today the pain from my neck was really wearing on me. I finally gave in a took a pain killer, then got out my polaroid pinhole camera and holgaroid and distracted myself. I used some of the photos I took here in this spread. The good news is, yesterday I got a tabletop easel to try to work on so I won't have to look down, and did this on the easel.

i've read up to the first attempt;
she's in love with a man who is too beautiful
(where men should not have beauty,
her friend tells her, & he's portrayed as being really effeminate and
her love of him and his good looks is quite interesting)
& who rejects her, or they have some
sort of misunderstanding, and so she's totally sad.
she takes a large dose laudanum and has thoughts
vague in manner, "and confused, but pleasant
in their nature and impression."

after doing the quaker biography of the
missionary in africa this book is like a fun fest.
the narrative is done through a remembrance
of a plantation owner in cuba, and there are
lots of lovely descriptions of odd foods,
like pastes served on rose petals and parrots
cooked in pastry and birds of the forest kept
frozen in snow (okay, those are in canada).

the same author wrote a book called
Zophiël, or the Bride of Seven, which
is from a narrative in the book of tobit
about

"a young woman named Sarah who prays for death in despair. She has lost seven husbands to the demon of lust -- Ashmodai (a demon later frequently associated with homosexuality) who abducts and kills every man she marries on their wedding night before the marriage can be consummated. God sends the angel Raphael, disguised as a human, to heal Tobit (he was blinded by bird droppings that fell in his eyes) and to free Sarah from the demon."

i wonder if it's up for proofing, too.
